Decent East Texas Timber Lease Buck - 01/31/18 03:40 PM
I shot this buck last weekend on our MLD lease in Trinity County. He weighed about 135, but looks like he lost a good amount of weight since the trail camera pictures we have of him from rut. His brow tines are worn down smooth, so I'm guessing he may have rubbed them off in velvet.
He isn't a monster, but is a very decent buck for our area and more importantly a sign of our hard work and management over the last 10 years. When we got on this lease 13 years ago or so, they were killing everything they saw. The only bucks we even saw on camera were young 4 points. Then the county went to antler restrictions and then we got on MLD. We've been seeing better bucks and are finally starting to see mature bucks regularly.
I'm doing a euro myself, but am kinda regretting it now. I might see how much a taxi will charge me for a new cape and end up doing a wall pedestal.
Also, what would yall age this deer at?
