My two best deer - 12/24/17 03:33 PM
I have been pretty lucky the past two years. I had the mounted 8 point on camera several times and really was wanting him
but didn't figure it would happen. I hunted about 1 1/2 hours each afternoon after work. On the fourth afternoon while I was turning to leave the stand I saw antlers. Made the shot and he only made it 70 yds. He was my best but short lived as best. The other eight I was able to take after work again. I another camera to the lease and had about 1 hour until dark. I really didn't expect to see anything that afternoon. I was going to sit in the stand and just enjoy the afternoon and colors of fall. I had been watching hawks flying around hunting and playing a game on the phone, only looking up occasionally. After about 30 min. when t looked up all i see was antlers. He turned away from me and just stood there. These was no doubt about him being legal. He started turning and I thought i was going to get a broadside shot but he kept turning until he was facing me and stopped. That was good enough for me. I squeezed the trigger and down he went. I heard him hit the ground from 135 yrds. He will be harder to beat than the other. Been very blessed to get a nice deer two years in a row. I have two or three others on camera that are just as good. Only hunt on 22 acres but hundreds and probably a few thousand acres that join this is bought up by a water district for a lake in the future. Nobody can hunt on it but my time is limited on the 22 acres. I'll enjoy hunting it as long as they will let me.
