Little Man gets his first buck!!!!!

Very proud of my little man. He took his first turkey in April this year, so I thought it was time to move up. He waited patiently for 23 minutes (per camera footage) for the perfect shot, passing on some marginal shots in the process. After half a breath and 3.49 lbs. of trigger pressure, little man has harvested his first white-tail. He is 8 years old.

Just wanted to introduce him to the Hunting Forum members and let you guys know to hopefully get ready for many more in the future.

Proud was an understatement....he ran approximately 200 yards and when we found him I tackled him and we just hugged for a long time.....

I know some of you may roll your eyes, but I spent about a year and a half getting him ready. First I started out with the buck hunting game on the WII nintendo...He loved it....He learned to hold his breath to steady the gun, learned to zoom up on the animal to see better, to find the animal in the scope and the game has a great feature where you can push a button and it exposes the vitals. After he completed all the levels with the game, I took him to a range and started him with my 17 HMR. His first shot was a bulls-eye. I always express the importance of squeezing the trigger, so I let him jerk the trigger twice and he shot way right twice. After that I asked him to squeeze the trigger again,...Bulls-eye...A couple times last year I took him to the stand and had him practice with my 270. (He didn't like this at all because he was ready to shoot..lol) He would find the deer in the scope, zoom up on them, count their points, and explain to me what the deer was doing and most importantly tell me the angle of the deer (broadside, quarter to, quarter away). This year I took my 270 with a boss system on it...plenty loud, but very little kick...he settled in like an old pro...found the deer, zoomed in, waited for the broadside shot and squeezed the trigger. He never felt the kick, but in all the preparation I forgot hearing protection. He turned to me after the shot and said "Hey Dad, my ears are numb"....I said "mine to buddy"....
