Deer out there do seem to have more mass this year than normal. Two years of above average rainfall will do that, deer are fat and healthy body-wise and that allows the bucks to divert more nutrition into their antlers. This deer was shot south of Ozona and Sonora near Juno on my Dad's lease on opening day. They aged him at only 3.5 and he scored 151" ... two more years this deer could have been an absolute monster. But, I can't blame anyone for shooting this particular deer at that age. Despite a management plan that doesn't allow for a promising deer that age to be killed, and an 11,000 acre spread that would probably keep him safe from the neighbors, everyone agreed that this deer was an exception and was just too hard to pass on.
