Youth season success. - 11/02/15 04:05 AM
Pulled up the old photobucket account to load today's pics and I looked back at some of my daughter's deer. I'm super proud of her but at the same time I'm worried about how fast she's growing. She already has life about figured out and is an extremely smart and independent kid....that's the part that scares the crap outta me. I'll quit yakking and get to the good stuff.
We sat up on the ground with our backs to an old wood pile because the wind wasn't blowing the direction that 3 different weather sites said it was. Set up at 3:45pm and had a few doe come in at 5. Really wanted a doe that looked much older and didn't have a fawn to give us a shot but she was too spooky. This young doe shows up with a fawn and pinned us thanks to the spooky one. She came straight at us from 100+ to 15 yards. She came so fast and was so focused on us that my daughter couldn't move to swing the shooting sticks. At 15 yards she starts stomping and blowing, I can't stand a doe that sticks around blowing and stomping, so now I'm wanting this to work. She can't figure us out with us in full camo and the wind right. I literally could hear my daughter breathing, this little doe had her shook up, haha ol doe fever. Finally she makes us and trots to 30 yards giving my daughter the chance to adjust and click off safety, it was a click, boom, flop with her trusty .223 and a high shoulder shot, no tracking.
Old pics that made me wish she would stop growing.
