Good weekend bow hunting - 10/12/15 04:33 AM
Finally made it down to my place in Texas. Had to miss opener here because of a relatives wedding and was eager to get out. We pulled the cards and there were a couple of nice ones at my dad's stand. The other cards showed good activity, but nothing great.
Wind was tough this weekend, as we had some storms rolling through early, so stand selection was a little tough to decide on. Didn't get to hunt my favorite stand, but still had a great weekend and some great hunts.
Made it to the lease in time to make the evening sit and within 5 minutes, had some meat for the freezer on the ground. Within a few minutes of watching her fall, had a young 8 pointer come in. Ended up seeing plenty of young bucks, but nothing great.
The next day, I had to relocate to another stand because of the wind. This is the stand that I would finish out the weekend in. Good thing that I was able to connect early on the doe because this stand only had bucks. Each hunt, there were somewhere around 10-14 bucks. They are starting to get serious about the fighting and some sparring mixed in. According to the cameras, that changed this week.
Did have one good buck come in and he was there every hunt. I let him go in hopes of a bigger buck, but he was fun to watch.
Ended up meeting Bobo the Clown on Saturday night for some nourishment and libations. Overall a great weekend
