Caught the wrong animal

Sorry for the bad pic but guess he played with the camera before getting caught in the trap. Thank goodness I had my cellular game cam on the trap so we were able to run out there and get him out. Man was mamma mad at us messing with her calf! All is well now however. Never had that happen before.

We run a t-post across the opening of the trap to keep out the cows.

We had to start doing the same and, building shorter traps after we caught a 600 lb steer in a 4x4x6 trap. brought a whole new meaning to cubed beef

Good eatin...

One of my neighbors had that happen. I could here the calf bawling. Called neighbor, he was out of town. Jumped the fence, opened the trap and baby got out. He bought me a case of beer.

Bet he was surprised. About 15 yrs. ago , a friend caught a small buck. I thought the buck would kill himself before we got him out of there.

We had caught a 8 pt one year and a doe, they both had to crawl in on their knees to get in trap. Try to get them out before they hurt them selves, both broke a leg and we had to shoot them.

Could have been an expensive mistake. Glad you got him out OK. This is why we've always had a rule that traps are not set if they can't be checked daily.
