Cool shot from the river today

Very cool! How many did you all get it to? How big was this one?

We caught 8 gar had two small ones come off at the boat and I caught two little blue cat messing around between bites. Biggest fish was 6'2 I'm guessing around 120 and six between 75-85 with one little 50 pounder that fought like he was 100.

Got to be fast to catch a shot like that. Very nice.

You got to go Bowfishing with him. Never had so much fun in my life. I have shot hundreds of fish with him. He's a good buddy of mine.

Looks like blood spatter coming out of gars mouth

Good eye. It is blood but not the gars. This fish was coughing up his lunch I guess because he was hooked in the mouth. When we got him in he puked up some fishy, bloody, mess.

I've never done this type of fishing. Can you give us a quick lesson? What bait, steel leaders, treble hooks, fish on bottom, drift?? Just curious. Looks like a heck of a fight!!

I use 3/0 to 4/0 Mustad Trebles. I build my own steel leaders. Fish on bottom with fresh cut bait. Just give me a shout if you would like to try it out. I've got some days available.
