The structure in the background will make a good deer blind.

We had a place just north of McKinney in 2012. We had some very nice bucks but nothing like him.
My bet is somewhere around lake Lavon, Princeton, Farmersville, or Blue Ridge.

Have seen a stud or two over the years near the Gaylord and Cowboys Golf Club working the brushline.
The story should be interesting on that monarch.

I'm guessing the greenbelt as well. I've seen some monsters at night around the Polo Club in Oak Point. They were sneaking over the fence into the horse pasture.

I'd rather be up there, but the deer on Parker/Tarrant Co. line aren't slouches this year.

My wife almost hit a very large buck early November last year off Parker Rd, between Old Denton and Josey in Lewiville, just North of Carrollton. One of my good hunting buddies has sent me some pictures of HUGE bucks off 114 near Trophy Club where he lives. They will be hanging out right by the service rd of 114. Plus, I know hunters who hunt Grapevine Lake (legally) and some who hunt in Flower Mound (illegally) and several very large bucks have been taken in Flower Mound with a bow.

Well the search link did not come through as a link.
Try this one for a 195 inch Lake Grapevine buck.
http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1870356/1Have seen some trail camera pics of bucks in McKinney that were easily in the 170s. The owner of that trail camera missed the smaller one at 20 yards, he said buck fever got him bad.

Re: Metroplex Bucks .... DFW - 09/11/15 01:42 AM
I have been fortunate enough to hunt some properties that are now subdivisions just north of the metromess(not in Collin cty). All I could do was chuckle at my friends as they drove 200-300 miles to chase little deer. 20min from the house we had some Giants and very few folks even knew there was deer there. Not unusual at all for one of us or all of us to see or kill a 170+ every year, even a few in the 190s. Well now the cat is out of the bag LOL. Deer have been there all along, and they were able to get some age. Friends would ask "what are you feeding". We never fed anything. Our deer were just older and given a chance to develop. Not 4yo either. Many deer killed were 8&9yo.

Funny stuff here, I personally saw a 12ptr. or so 6-7 years ago Thanksgiving working the tree line across from Cowboys driving range, Gaylord side. I meahhh at him and got him to stop and turn his head; easily a 160" buck.

There are plenty of monster bucks around the Grapevine Lake area, and also on the DFW Airport property. My family has been in the Grapevine/Flower Mound area for over 130 years, and we've seen plenty of them all over the area. I had a farm/ranch where Grapevine Mills Mall is now,and we killed many nice deer off that property for years until we sold it in the 1990's.

Re: Metroplex Bucks .... DFW - 10/14/15 03:03 AM
Yeap that is him. That is my brother in law. The deer was killed with a bow Friday afternoon on family property. I helped track him. The pictures have been rolling around big time and the game wardens have been getting lots of calls. The Collin county game warden came and visited us tonight to check where and how this monster was taken. Everything checked out fine and we have waited to post the info on this to protect the family property. As many people know poachers and bad people may want to know where this deer lived. So it was amazing job my bro in law. He made a perfect shot and the buck ran 40yds before it died. We don't have an exact score but the spread is 23", based around 8". The deer has a huge body and a rocking chair to match. I will give more of the story and some pictures tomorrow. And no in not going to tell where he was taken besides McKinney area.

I agree, theres a few up there that are the absolute worse about findin out where big deer are taken and then trying to get permission to hunt the place or property around it. Part of me doesn't blame them but part of me feels they should be more concerned about enforcing the game lawas and not finding new places to hunt.
