Dang thats impressive

Dont mean to pry, but curious, what is expected value of all that at the auction?

Hopefully enough to keep me going, never know with the auctions. Could be boom or bust or as expected. None of it could sell an sit there for another year and you make $0. There's a range from zero to 10k, lol I know that didn't answer much but that's the truth of it

Have you caught something so big or unique that you kept it for yourself?

Re: 2014-15 fur season pics - 03/27/15 01:45 AM

I don't do any tanning myself, I just flesh and dry the pelts.

And yes I've caught some unique stuff, some cool coloration coyotes, badgers, I've got two bobcat mounts. But I don't really have any tanned fur laying around. There's 12 shoulder mounts and 15 ducks in the living room. I'm workin on my duck collection right now, fur is really a business to me and I usually sell everything or tan the cool stuff and sell it to people that see it and pay the right price. I've got 15 ringtails frozen whole in the freezer right now too

Whoa. That's impressive. I was always interested in the business ever since I was 8 and the morning after the first night we spent at a place my folks bought by Luckenbach, in '68, an old (late '40's/early '50's), blue Chevy pickup came rattling out of the BACK of our place and it was the old German (we affectionately call them "square heads") that had been farming the place, was getting one last night in spotlighting ringtails. He opened that door and the floorboards were full of ringtails. Dad let him farm the place 'til he died. Now, every time I see a ringtail (and that's purty darn rare) I smile.

Wow eeks333
I've trapped a-bit years ago in Oklahoma so I know how much effort and work went into that haul! Even thought I never came close to that kind of result if I had 3 cats I was happy.
