Titan2232 - O1 takes a fine and tough edge relatively easy. It is a very forthright steel to work with , heat treat, use and sharpen. O1 is not a space age, exotic and hyped wonder steel. And, that is what I like most about it.
ps There is no knife task that a good blade made from any of the top 10 knife making steels can't accomplish.

Runt made from .250 O1 tool steel - no scales on this 1/4" stock model. This particular blade is ready for heat treat.
Always bear in mind that bevel geometry has a lot to do with the performance of any cutting tool. The Runt above has an inclusive (primary) bevel of ~25 degrees, which is ~1/2 of most
secondary beveled knives.
