Congratulations and great story. The Chalk Mountain area is pretty rugged for that area and has always intrigued me. If there is a lion in the area, that looks like a really good place to find him.
Adios,
Gary

Wow, Great story and congratulations.
I am going to have to be on the look out as I just recently bought a ranch in Erath County and I had no idea there were big cats roaming our woods.

Seen one in brown county and one in mills hit by a car. And tracks in a few locations in mills where I hunt and along the Colorado by goldthwait. Still don't know if I could shoot one as they are a majestic part of the landscape. great animal though I don't know if I had a gun I may have one over my mantle as well. Congratulations.

Very cool, Ive taken two lions in Colorado, but it would way cooler to shoot one here in Texas just by chance like that.
Funny part is, in the next couple of years that photo is going to make the rounds on the net and will have been killed by "a friend of a friend" in about 50 different counties.

Anyone walking to the stand in the dark without a side piece? That'll make you think twice right there!
Big stinkin cat!

Great lion and story.
You've got the trophy of a lifetime as far as I'm concerned.
Better than the biggest of whitetail bucks.
Congrats

I was at Kuby's yesterday and the guy behind the counter told me someone brought in a mountain lion to be processed the day before. I joked with him and speculated that it'll probably taste like chicken.
