Just my opinion guys, but that is one poor display, no matter the circumstances. Nothing positive could be construed from that scene by ordinary folks. I haven't even flaunted a nice single buck since I was 20 years old, by mounting it as high on my vehicle as I could so every person could see how "cool" I was SMH

Folks might be use to it in that area.
It is what it is.
Take that PETA.

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/16/14 10:15 PM

While some view it as a poor display, I see it differently. I donated a walkin cooler full of does on several occasions to a guy that he and his buddies would process them all for the local churches. The 7 of them would take their weekends off to do this for the needy families in the local churches. The guys Mom would coordinate with the local ministers from each church to find out what members needed could use the venison for their meals. They did it for free and even drove over 100 to the ranch I was on to pick the deer up on multiple occasions. I asked him one day why he did not tarp them and he said he was not going to do it. Said he had nothing to hide and anyone who wanted to confront him, he would ask them if the wanted to help him and his friends for the weekend. My guess is these are going to a food bank or hunters for the hungry program.

Not to rag on the guys, happy that SOMEONE has had some luck, but I woulda tarped them too, not to avoid offending someone's PC feelings but to protect the venison. Times have indeed changed. One of mine, around 1957:

Cool pic Dennis!

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/16/14 10:46 PM

It doesn't have anything to do with something to hide....Even bull haulers for the large packers don't expose more than needed, just enough to move air through the trailer to get to the plant.

EDIT, big difference from the 40's 50's 60's and now, hunters are a minority.

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/16/14 10:49 PM

Ummm i wonder how long they let them deer sit around on a trailer before they finally end up in a cooler or on ice.....my guess is not very fast. Although I would take a pic like that at deer camp, no way would I drive around public like that. Just my 0.02.

I wonder if vegetarians get offended when a full flatbed vegetable truck goes by?

Hunters giving in to the PC world... cry

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/16/14 11:33 PM

I think there is a difference to giving in and being able to see the change in this country and surviving it, without loosing the privilege. Why aggravate the situation needlessly, to show off, or "look what I did"?

Just poor taste IMO.

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/17/14 12:18 AM

Why is anyone on a hunting forum of all places concerned about the looks portrayed on this pic? confused2
Especially if it's the result of a legal hunt.
Maybe it was a quick trip from a hunt to the processor and maybe the meat is being donated.
It's been cold enough the meat should be fine.
Folks hang deer for days if it's cold enough.
There is another way to "age" a deer after all. grin
I don't mean to get on my high horse but folks say it's just the world we live in.
The same world that want's me to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

Happy holidays, because not all people are Christians. In fact, according to the bible, Jesus was born in summer. The catholic church changed the date to coincide with the Pagan rituals around the winter solstice stir

I know folks who aren't Christians that celebrate Christmas. wink

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/17/14 07:42 PM

got no problem with it at ALL. as long as they were taken legally

ps that could just be the roadkill collection truck this time of year. I lived out there and a BUNCH hit this time of year.

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/17/14 08:00 PM

Couple years ago passed a truck and trailer on the way home. Was a 16-foot flatbed with deer laying on there backs with feet in the air side by side filling the entire trailer and 8 foot bed of the old ford pulling it. Must have been 40-50 deer all does and some of them were big ole girls!

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/17/14 08:04 PM

That picture is the reason why I refuse to take anything to a processor. I process my own meat as you never know who treats their venison as well as you do.

Just my opinion.......

As cold as it was in San Angelo yesterday I'm sure they are fine.

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/20/14 02:05 AM

That is total BS - no matter the reason or circumstances, rolling down a highway with that is begging for making hunters and hunting look bad - embarrassing for the entire hunting community

Re: Somebody had a little luck....... - 11/20/14 02:57 PM

reminds me of the trips my dad would take to brady with his buddies. Except there were always 10+ guys so the trailer was always stacked high with deer
