JCB'S 8 DAY HUNT PART 3 - 10/26/14 09:51 PM
On the afternoon of the 18th another lease and forum member took this boar with a 22 Mag to the ear.
On the afternoon of the 22ed I decided to put away the Xbow since I had my buck and a pig already with it. It was time for some 6.8 action. Had a group of mostly small black pigs show up so I singled one out and gave her a lethal dose of Accubond. She folded right in her tracks without so much as a squeal.
That same night it was time for a group cookout on the new grill/smoker.
The afternoon of the 23ed Dad shot a sow right at dark with his Xbow. We decided to pick up the trail the next morning since there was very little blood. We found her about 50 yards from where she was shot.
The middle of the day of the 24th we were doing some cleaning up around camp and found this little guy hanging out under the tounge of our trailer.
Also that same afternoon I went to one of my bow blinds in search of a black and white spotted boar that had been running all the deer off. Just after 7pm he showed up right in front of me at less than 20 feet away. The thing came in on me as quite as a mouse!!! He started to circle down wind of the stand location before going to the feeder and I knew I was going to have to get the shot off immediately or he would wind me and be gone. So I reached for the 6.8 and not caring if he saw or heard me or not I flipped off the safety and drove the Accubond into his shoulder just as he was leaving my shooting lane from about 20' away. Trust me he looked like a Elephant at that distance while sitting on the ground at eye level with him when he showed up!!!!!!
There was also one other nice boar killed this past weekend by another forum member but I am sure he will post some pics when he gets back.
The record heat had deer movement slowed to a crawl!!!! The most I ever saw in one hunt was 4 and the average was probably 2 or less. The last two days I didn't even see a deer! Hopefully some cold weather and frost will move in pretty darn quick to get these deer moving. All in all it was a great trip though!!
