Spots on Whitetail Buck - 10/24/14 07:13 PM

Hey guys. I was daydreaming at work and looking through my game cam pics. Has anyone ever seen white spots down the back of a whitetail buck like this? I just thought it was weird.

TooLow, that is what I was thinking but didn't know if that was possible and thought I might be crazy for thinking that. We just started seeing some axis on our place this year. I have looked at these pics a thousand times and just now noticed it. Pretty cool though.

If a hybrid, I don't think (I don't know) I would expect such straight lines.

Yes I have seen it quite a few times on bucks. Seen it on bucks in South Texas and Central Texas over the past 20 yrs or so.

It's a pig disguised as a buck that won't make AR's. You can clearly see the zipper. Just like the original Godzilla.

I see it on mature doe alot but don't think I have seen it on a buck before. I believe it's just left overs from when they were fawns and tends to show more on their summer coat as the winter coat starts to grow in.

We are just a little ways south of you. Haven't see it that prevailant down a back but we have a few over the years that kept their spots. One buck had three large white spots on his hindquarter that never went away...we named him spot grin

I've noticed it on cam pics of bucks in Llano county before. Glad I'm not the only one seeing it. Never new what caused it.
