A few helicopter survey pics from earlier this month

A friend sent me a few pics from a recent helicopter survey in South Texas. Sure is green and bucks look pretty dang good.

I'd shoot the 7th one down or the 6x6 in the 6th pic down. Like that heavy horned 10 point, but never killed a 6x6. 5th buck down has huge browtines that you can't see at that angle and I think he is a 4x4 mainframe.

Their bodies are freaking huge! They look like they are the size of deer up Iowa and Kansas.

Those bucks have been Stx's Infamil-protein-mineral-testosterone acorn flavored super buck formula milk shakes.

Mature deer there have had a range from 150 lbs to 208 lbs field dressed(depending on the month killed) on the mature bucks that I have seen weights on. All deer look bigger when you are above them in a helicopter you can really see the muscle mass when they are stretched out running. A short squatty buck will look just as big or even bigger than a long and lanky buck. Very hard to judge scores on bucks from above also when just looking at them quickly. The pics make it easier to recognize them from TC pics and a bit easier to score.

Excellent heli pics. Definitely want to shoot one of those long drop-tiners. Wonder how long it'll be before the heli is ditched for drones.

We were just south of you in Beeville yesterday and today penning some of cows and boy it is dry down there. Sure got some nice deer on the place.
