253 yards

253 yards - 09/01/14 05:24 PM

You may remember earlier this year I bought my wife a S&W MP15 Sport and topped it with a Leupold VX3 3-9-50, and painted it pink bang. We'll she has been talking a lot of smack lately about being a better shot, so I grabbed a piece of 7/16 plate and quickly cut a target. Placed it at 253 yards accident to range finder, and let her take her shots with no guidance from me, other then yelling hit/miss. Here is 7 of 10 shots that she took, the first 3 shots were at 150 yards at clay pigeons. And now she keeps falling smack and wants to step out to 400 yards next time.

Edit: the target is 14x20

What kind of ammo are you shooting through it? My M&P is only good for 3-4 inch groups at 100 yards. Maybe it's my optics? I've got an EOTech red dot with a 3x magnifier behind it (certainly not as easy as shooting a legitimately scoped AR).

I'd "adjust" her scope.......then make a HUGE bet w/ her rofl

The ammo was not what she shot to sight in. I had some leftover reloads that needed to be shot, all I know is it was 55 grains. A lot of the problems with red dots is they have too big of a dot, I shot the plate and pigeons at the same yardage with my 10.5 inch AR with Aimpoint Comp M4, it has a 2 or 3 mil dot. Of course a good scope is hard to beat, but once you learn to use the red dot it's not bad.
