Couple more pics from Ft Hood

Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 05:51 AM

I think this is a different buck than the two I posted earlier. He looks like a pretty symmetrical 8 point. Also after going through pics again I found this bobcat pic. So far I got 3 different big pigs, 5-6 bucks, multiple doe plus at least one fawn, coyote, bobcat, and a turkey at this new spot. Im holding out hoping big daddy shows up one of these days when I check the cam.

Dang Sapper, new spot looking good. May have to call CSM Padgett and get you a MEB scheduled for opening day, where is that spot exactly rofl Got your own little zoo going on!!

How the heck do you know CSM Padgett? Oh and my personal zoo I can't disclose the location.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 07:49 AM

I don't know him grin Just figured that would be better than calling Col. Roscoe sure don't want to get you stationed in Siberia rofl

My FIL is also CSM (retired)

Well glad to know you know who my Brigade CSM and Commander are. I try to stay away from BDE. Its not usually a good thing when you BDE CSM and CO know who you are unless you work directly for them. U get me sent to Siberia we are gonna have issues LOL.

Just razzing you man! Late and the coffee pot is empty! That 8 looks older then the short sided buck BTW.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 07:57 AM

I knew you were messing with me but for real Siberia would be less than pleasant.

I also thought that 8 was older.

I finally put out a feeder so now I don't have to go out there every week and throw corn. Hopefully with a constant supply of corn even more will show up.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 07:59 AM

Well that answers the corn question I just asked on the other post.

Siberia has a few things to hunt, beside boredom.

You will have one of those at the taxidermist before I even get to clean out my stand! LOL

Only reason I asked where it was "ahk hem" was in-case you got hurt and needed extraction, ya know , safety stuff grin

Oh no *&it, that would be awesome!!

BTW, this new spot, you do have it secure? followed your OPFOR and covered your tracks rofl Would suck to get there a find the whole darn base out there with ya

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 08:22 AM

If I seen a truck follow me out there id just drive past it and keep going. Its as secure as I can get it without booby trapping the place.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 08:28 AM

LOL Right!!

Even While hunting I'd avoid a light as well. Someone posted last season they hunted out there, showed up on opening day and folks everywhere. Don't recall who it was though.?

Not to razz you to much, but
signature-enhancing measures
signature-reduction measures
Obscurants up

I went back and looked at the short sided buck (couldnt find the 1st ones you posted) I think I would like this new one unless his daddy showed up. Maybe not as tall as the short sided one . Be neat to see another photo of him though.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 03:22 PM

Tough decision, but I think short side has some nice height on that one side and killer brows. Hope you get a photo with the "carpet" off their heads, In any event, you wont need a book to read hunting that spot!

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 05:55 PM

The high brows is what I like most about him. But the first legal buck that isn't extremely young is getting an arrow. Then ill just enjoy the pics for the rest of the year. I almost enjoy seeing new bucks on cam as much as I enjoy hunting for them. Being on Ft Hood on such a large place also means anything could come walking out of those trees at any time.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 06:00 PM

Just curious, are you on a lease or is this base property?

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/10/14 06:02 PM

Yes Sir, I am kind of surprised of what you have on cam after things I heard about hunting there. Don't blame you one bit, if you sling an arrow on the 1st one. With the amount of pressure over the years and the competition there, that's darn near a day lease situation. Hogs dont surprise me, I don't know much about them other than what others have said that have to deal with them, but it seems they could live through a nuclear attack and still be prolific?

Haven't seen a ton of pressure in this area prob bc its not easy to get to. I live 5 minutes from Hood and it takes me 40 minutes to get to my spot. Now that I got the feeder up I'm not going back for at least 2 weeks. Unless I have a chance to get out there and try and kill one of those hogs.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/11/14 03:21 AM

May save some corn if you can get a couple of them too.

Re: Couple more pics from Ft Hood - 08/11/14 06:42 AM

I hunted there a few years ago and there are plenty of deer and some big ones. You just have to pick the right spot.
