Hog Weight Guesstimate? - Your thoughts - 08/04/14 07:34 PM
This weekend I got to talking hog hunting with some guys at a bar in Austin and we started showing pics back and forth of hogs we had shot and we started shooting numbers back and forth of what we thought this guy weighed; this pig isn't even half the size of the largest one I had seen killed in the area but I have always wondered what it weighed.....Your thoughts?
This is me working on the feeder and I'm 6'3" and at the time 295lbs.
Here is the hog by the feeder; notice where his back is compared to the cross member on the feeder, which is just about even with my belt.
I had been trying to get him and thought he went nocturnal, so I took my 22-250 with me to take out some coyotes that had been hanging around and murphy's law came into play and he showed up and soaked up 22-250 soft points like they were bee stings and fell of in a creek where I put 1 more in him to finish him off. - That's a Ruger M77 laid across him for scale.
Couldn't get him out of the creek, so I tied bailing wire around his snout just behind the tusks and couple months later I had this; put the hat next to it for scale and I wear a 7 6/8" hat.
