My boy's first equine competition.

My boy's first equine competition. - 08/03/14 06:45 PM

He spent most of the summer with my sister and her husband in Arkansas. They work for some horse trainer out there, so he's been helping out feeding, cleaning stalls, and working horses. They entered him in the buckle class at an NCHA cutting in Gainesville, yesterday. He just turned 12. First competition. Placed second. I was pretty impressed, especially knowing how nervous and hard on himself he can be in situations like this.

Yeah, the horse looked good.

And no, I've made it clear I'm not buying any horses. His grandma and aunt have that handled.

Congrats. I was suppose to haul my youngest to a playday yesterday but the arena was still too wet. A kid can learn alot messing with horses.

Getting a horse is like marrying a high maintenance woman. Even though her dad gets to pay for the wedding he gets off easy. The purchase part is only the beginning. smile

I used to to tell people that wanted a horse to get a backhoe and dig a hole out back and every day throw 20 bucks into it.And I know from experience from wife and daughter showing. It is a expensive hobby. But they loved it so what can you say.
