Hog problem - 04/16/14 02:34 AM
Barrel is 6' high hog has pushed over protein feeder and has broken 3 feeder motors

Re: Hog problem - 04/16/14 02:44 AM
Feed pen would have been cheaper than that much damage. Fence it then shoot that hog.

Looks like a piggy with a death wish
Take off a weekend and hog panel around that feeder. Hunt it after you put it up. He'll be there.

Re: Hog problem - 04/16/14 12:54 PM
I would love to be there when he's trying to get to that feeder to roll his ars. That would make for a good video.

Re: Hog problem - 04/16/14 01:25 PM
Dang. You need to sling some lead in his direction. Go pop em.

Re: Hog problem - 04/16/14 02:10 PM
Oh yeah for payback I would be there waiting to shank him in the back legs when he lifted up!
Plus I noticed the times are pretty regular (Daily at 6pm to 9pm), so you could schedule that slaughter.

BOOOOMMMMM!!!!
IMPRESSIVE.......
I feel your pain. We are in Llano and have one doing the same thing. Have multiple picks of him with all four legs off the ground. We have our feeders staked down with rebar and he hasnt tipped one yet. Where are you located?

4 ft x 16 ft cattle panels are $19.99 a piece and 6 ft T-posts are $3.79 a piece at Tractor Supply. Should take care of that problem.

Why spend that much when a $1 rifle round will take care of it?

3 timers, 1 protein feeder, plus all the corn/protein he has lost and he wasted one night already...
VVVVVVV

Re: Hog problem - 04/16/14 10:26 PM
String Barbed Wire Criss Crossed from leg to Leg with Self Tappers anchoring them.....that's what we did to stop the hogs from ripping the motors off, that and lead poisoning.

+1 on the feeder pen, and shoot that sucker!

Shooting him would be much more satisfying than putting up a pen!

I feel your pain. Found this last week.
We found spare parts and fixed it along with adding 4 t posts. I'm sitting out in the blind right now waiting on them

Re: Hog problem - 05/06/14 01:25 AM
go to a crank up feeder..
and longer legs for sure. 1 1/2" or 2" pipe works well, that's what I use. I like my feeders to have legs that are at least 15' tall & staked down with T posts. No issues with pigs or cows tearing up feeders since.

Re: Hog problem - 05/06/14 01:44 AM
This is one of mine. This one doesn't have feet welded to the bottom though to protect the spinner
So when a rusty cable breaks on the way back up with 300 lbs of corn (that you've been putting off replacing) your spinner will go SPLAT! So, three pieces of 1 X 1 angle iron welded to the base is the way to go (lesson learned).

Re: Hog problem - 05/06/14 02:53 AM
I have one feeder that the hogs knocked down 4 times. Each leg was braced with a t-post...when I put rebar up horizontal from leg to leg that stopped the problem.
I think an all night hunt is in order
Wow. The cheapo $99 feeders I use wouldn't last long with that brute around.

Re: Hog problem - 05/09/14 08:34 PM
You need to hunt him non stop until you get him to prvent any damage.

Suppressed 300 blackout and he is dead

Re: Hog problem - 06/08/14 01:42 PM
I had the same issue and fixed it. I set a hog trap under the feeder with doors open for a week. I closed them and caught my hog the first night. I sprinkled a package of raspberry jello in the trap, he liked it. Now he's dead.
I used to use jello to catch them with snares
