That is no doubt a cottonmouth. Hognose are brown and have a much different head

Does not look dead in any of the pics. That is a typical pose for a cottonmouth that feels threatened and outgunned, pull into a tight curl with head held straight up to bite. And it is definitely NOT a Hognose, not by any means.
That there is a certified bonafide Agkistrodon Piscivorous. Cottonmouth, water mocassin, whatever you like to call it.
But one thing most people don't know is the venom is *not* deadly to humans, same as their cousins the Copperhead. Still don't mean you want to be bit by one, and you run a big risk of infection from all the nasty stuff in their mouth, but the venom from a bite will not kill you.
