East Texas Monster Down! - 04/17/13 02:45 AM

I've been waiting for 9 months to shoot a big boar and thanks to a friend inviting me out to East Texas this weekend I was able to take down this monster. I'm not sure what he weighed but I'm 6'6 205lbs so I'm thinking he's maybe 300lbs?

Oh and I was actually varmit hunting and he came running with some sows that were trying to get my distressed cottontail call.

It's funny you say that because within 30 minutes of me shooting him those things had already found him! I actually had to scare them off when I went back to take the pic and those dang things had already eaten his eyes.

It's a 6.8 SPC and I was using SSA 110 Barnes TSX ammo. He went down with one shot but I put an extra round in him for safe measure. The funny thing is when I first saw the pigs come out I had to ditch the Horandy Vmax rounds I had at the top of my clip to get my SSA rounds at the bottom.

We were near a town called Grapeland and there's a lot of watermelon fields near by so maybe that's what helps them get so big.

Grapeland tx... Use to work in that area on tha trinity.. Lots of pigs... And a good taxidermy shop also... I bet he's around 260

If I have vmax in the gun I always have a mag on me belt with either 110 AB or TSX for a qquick swap
