I may catch crap for this but I'm calling BS. First that looks a little bit photoshopped. And 2nd that guy looks like he is holding that 70lb fish up way too easily. Kind of makes you wonder.

If you look at the blue at the top of the stripers mouth that's a hanging scale with a hook I think.

Looks like there is a blue rope holding it up.

If you look closely it looks like some type of blue rope is holding the fish up and the man is holding it in a way to keep it from spinning on him. I am sure there is no way he could hold a 70# fish up that way. Awsome catch. But I do believe what you are seeing is real, he is just being assisted somehow

It looks to me that the fish is still hanging on the scale I'm sure. I believe the story.

I have caught stripers and hybrids in the 15 lb range and this one dwarfs those. I will say it looks legit. Stripers are very thick also and weigh a bit more than the appear to be also.

I think it could be real. In VA we'd see people catch 20-40#'ers quite often, with a few 50# fish once in awhile. 70#'s isn't too far of a stretch. Stripers are the funnest fish to catch.

This is legit. I don't live too far from where this fish was caught. It was all over the news here. There were state officials on hand to weigh the fish on certified scales.
I think our state record was about 55-56 pounds.
The funny thing is that very few people here fish for Stripers. After living in Texas for so long and getting used to everybody chasing stripers all over the state I never could figure out why they don't get much attention here. These guys hate catching Hybrids and Sand bass (called white bass here) are concidered trash fish.
