Who says there aren't big deer on public land. A buddy from the police department sent this to me Saturday morning. They shot this deer Friday afternoon at Davy Crocket National Forest. Green scored mid 160's.

Crocket Natl Forest
been hunting down there since 82.
definitely some big deer there but you really have to hunt!

Davy Crockett National Forest is 160,000 acres.

If I told you I shot a big deer "near Austin", it'd be about the same.

could have said in the neck and still been correct answer.
maybe should have asked for GPS coordinates instead.

I wouldn't worry about telling the location, and it being a public land buck and all. A lot of the hunters in Texas wouldnt know what to do anyway if you took their feeder away from them.

Great buck ! There's big deer all over Texas . Public , private . All you need is a good bottom and some natural protein and your ready to go .

I've hunted both of the national forrests and everyone is right, you could tell someone the exact location of where you shot that buck and they would still have to do some smart hunting just to see a basket-rack buck. Incredible buck, even for a deer lease

Thanks for blotting out my face! Don't want anyone following me around. I'm still pumped about this deer!! It scored higher than my Iowa buck, but not nearly as heavy. If you want one this big.......remember that you have to haul them out! He was deep in the forest. Thanks to my cousin for helping me get him out. Couldn't have done it w/o him!

If you have a TC pic then I would say to you.....halfway between cemetary and east edge of forest property.
