Monster buck down

Monster buck down - 12/30/11 02:34 PM

After 3 months, this bad boy finally showed up. My friend,Misfire, made a good shot using my 7mm which was loaded with Nosler Ballistic silver tips. The buck was shot quartering towards us and he took out 1 shoulder and exited through the offside lung. Buck ran maybe 40 yards. And yes, this was a HFed buck. Not trying to hide anything

Exit(note the size of hole- no massive explosion)

Glad that shot wasn't a little lower, might have been stinky, looks like Lung and Liver shot to me. Curious what was the distance for the shot and which weight BST did he use?

Shot was about 150 yards and those are hand loads with 150 grain bullets

Yep, we got lucky. No one has seen the buck since July. And since season started, there may have been 2-3 pics of him on trail camera. Besides, he going to help me paint my new AR.

My daughter shot it today and blew up a couple coke cans and clay pigeons. If a doe shows, she might be the shooter.

Lol Tye, nice cull off your place. C'mon guys, Tye has a HF ranch in Eastland Cty and they are just management hunting. Look at some of his other posts to get an idea of the quality he has out there. From what I understand, the deer on his place are all native, no genetic manufactured animals. I really thought he was posting a monster though!

Should have given him a few more years, then he would have been a trophy! He must have a lot of broken tines because there is no way a 6 point lives behind a high fence.

Lol, no broken points other than the brow tine. He was a 6 point last year at 2.5. No one saw him to kill him, so he survived. He was a monster that night compared to the other 2 bucks we saw that afternoon....both spikes

Re: Monster buck down - 12/31/11 03:28 PM

My daughter got her first deer with the AR last night too.
