This deer is ancient. I am guessing he walked the face of the earth when the buffalo roamed free. I believe what you are seeing in his left eye under the dagger is the loose skin around it sagging due to his age. He also has a lot more gray/white hair around his eyes due to his age. This deer is 7.5 yrs of age or older.

No doubt he is on the way down. Big roman nose and the backstraps are almost not there anymore. I doubt he will make it through this next winter if the panhandle gets a blasted with a cold winter.
