Thanks. I thought it was January. Glad to see I have a few more weeks. Just building points again this year. I hope to be a resident by the time the 24 draw takes place. That will improve my odds greatly.

Don’t just do points. Since they have lottery option on most top tags you should apply.

Been many a NR sheep hunter drawn with less then 6 pts

I may do that since I won't be using my Colorado points until 24. That means 23 will be open for elk. Doors pretty much closed on sheep and goats although desert bighorn is a possibility. I may still apply for them and give it one last harrah. I'll have to find a guide that can accept my limitations. It would be a decent climb and a good hike but, really, that's all I could expect at this point. The upside would be an impetus to get my butt back in shape. Need to do that for elk anyway.

I once was told if you drew two Premier LE tags in one year, I bet you could find a way todo both. Unless you already have a trip of a lifetime planned and absolutely can’t add another, I’d shoot for the moon every where that has a lottery option, AZ,Idaho, NV, UT, and NM.

Have quite a few points in most states. I wouldn't think of passing up a draw and buying points, if there was a chance to draw a random tag. I have been lucky a few times on them, and worked hard to fill those tags!

I got lucky my first year AZ elk draw (cow) with 0 points but not since. At least there is a chance.

I'm getting talked into this. Have to run the options past the War Department (look up Gene Hill for those who are wondering what that means). It'd be a crash course in weight loss and back to my climbing training but I'm leaning that way. I've got enough goat points in Co, might as well plug that in also.

Also, I didn't realize NV and UT had random or loyalty options. Hmm.

AZ has the loyalty point and “random” tags.

Utah and Nevada both have a random aspect of their draw as well.

The only time I do points only in any of those states is if I already have tags and legitimately wouldn’t be able to go or if the tag I have is one that I cannot return. But mostly I put in no matter what.

I completely agree Fitz. We always put into the draw and have hit some great tags over the years doing so.
