They moved their big show to Nashville for 2023. Should be a good time

SCI turned into an awards club for bluebloods and lardass lawyer types. IIRC over half of the money raised yearly goes to organizational overhead. No thanks.

I opened this because "SCI" has a totally different meaning in the Fed world. Secure Compartmentalized Information. It was my specialty in ICE. I keep forgetting I'm retired!

Last charity rating I saw for SCI showed the three year average for expenses were:

Administrative Expenses: 14.2%
Fundraising Expenses: 19.0%
Programs Expenses: 66.8%

They might do some good, but I think DSC does better.

SCI, years ago, charged 100.00 for a MEMBER to walk their show floor. It's a dam tradeshow! That right there shows how full of themselves they are. I also heard more than one exhibitor complain about their strong-arm tactics to get exhibitors to donate things for their pecker-measuring banquets.

I’m a fan of SCI and a card carrying member, but I can see the point JGraider is making. There is Some of that but for hunting as a whole, not just in the US, I believe they do a lot of good.

I would much rather have a white collar CEO type from SCI represented as the face of hunting than Ted Nugent or Buck Commander

Perception isnt always reality. They spend a lot funds states side representing hunter rights.

I think they could do a much better job marketing that fact though

I too was a happy member for several years. I dropped my membership when retirement got in the way of a second trip to Africa. I always felt that SCI was pretty transparent about their support for hunting as conservation which was a near match to how I viewed hunting.

I've met more than one "hunter", some around a Zimbabwe campfire, that the SCI book, awards, etc. is their absolute religion. Completely obsessed. Sad, older men, still trying to prove themselves. Too dang weird for me.
