Fall season now officially a write off

Fall season now officially a write off - 10/21/21 09:13 PM

Took a nasty fall down a ravine on Oct 01 and it has now officially ended my 2021 season. Knackered both my knee and ankle and it took me 2.5 hours to cover what is normally a 15 minute walk to my truck. Ankle has more or less recovered but my knee somehow become infected and went septic. Now on IV antibiotics to be followed by surgery. Hopefully will be able to do some ice fishing when the time comes.

Good luck to all of you out there and please post your tales as i will be living vicariously. This will be the first season i have not filled deer tags since 1982. Going to have to start rationing my meat stocks to make it another full year. Fortunately last season was good to me with 4 deer and 3 bears between me and my boys so with a bit of planning we should make it without running out.

That is tough! Most of my hunting places are covered in ravines. Take a new path across the property, find a new ravine. Some are a few inches, some are a couple of feet, and some are a few yards deep.

I have had my share of ravine falls. I feel for you. Heal well!!!

Dang the bad luck. Hopefully you will get the infection behind you and the surgery on your knee won't be as bad as they are thinking. So glad you were able to get back to your truck, where you hunt that could have been really bad. Prayers heading your way.

Hope you're able to get back to 100% before too long.

Right now it looks like a season filled with unusually warm weather so that if you have to miss one, this will be a good one for that.

Prayers up brother. Remember where there's a will, there's a way. I was worried about my season, after biceps tendon and UCL surgery in June. Long rehab, up t0 10 pounds with the right hand now, ... filled feeders and shotgun hunted this weekend.... no way to pull a bow or crossbow.... ready to try rifle fire this week and see where we are at.... hang in there you might get some hunts in
