Fun Hog Opportunity this morning - 10/19/21 02:53 PM
At 7:04 I was getting ready to run out to the place and check on our sheep. I opened the Bushnell app and the most recent picture was a group of 7 hogs that have been randomly hitting my feeder. We don't have many and I've been looking to have less. Hot dang! It was about to be on.
I drove out to the place and crept through the pasture. I parked about 400 yds from the feeder and grabbed my 6.8 and tripod and began stalking through the brush. I jumped several deer but that didn't seem to bother the hogs. I kept checking the pictures and they were content to keep feeding.
I got set up between some cedars and waited for the largest pig, a boar, to present a shot. Finally he did. The 115gr Federal Fusion put him straight down. The sows hauled butt but another pig stayed put. Boom, down he went, followed by another guy that didn't seem to know what was going on. One more stopped at the brush line and took a solid thump before getting out of sight.
I waited for a few minutes to see what else might happen, then went to check my kills. I trailed the one in the brush and finished him off at 20 yds.
It was a good morning! I'm still feeling some adrenaline!
