Outdoor Annual - 07/18/21 03:35 PM

Anybody heard if they are going to publish an outdoor annual this year, or just the online issue like last year? I for one really missed the printed one myself…

WAG on my part is that they will not publish one ever again. They will force everyone to go online or get the app to view the rules and regs. They did this with the WMA hunts years ago when they quit publishing the booklet and mail in paper applications. They sold ads and had those monies to publish with for years. Don't think they will get the ads sold for paper publications, so they will stick with online and apps.

As my old granddaughter said, "Grandpa, it is the 21st Century, time to get with the program." Too easy to read it Online, but I miss marking pages of interest. And the hand written notes about some issues. But I got over it.

It got too hard to navigate through it anyway, and in some cases made it hard to understand unless you had a law degree!

Like most I'm used to the hard copy, but the app is easy to use on your phone.

You can't rip the pages out of your phone in case of emergency... grin

Do not believe there is any intent at this point to ever publish a hard copy again.

Print out the entire thing at a place that does printing and then get a fancy binding for it. Then you will have the only hardcopy, talk about being unique.

I bet someone will print out several outdoor annual and sell them for a profit to a bunch of old timers.

Though I’m not an old timer, I’ve collected the outdoor annuals every year since I was four when I got my first hunting licenses. I would buy one if there were any

It's got to be a significant cost savings if they don't print it. It's easier to search online and it's always available. Time to evolve, it's probably digital from here on out.

Printed, old school books are making a small come-back. Just sayin'. And, I hate the word "evolve". bolt

Another advantage is that the digital version can be updated at the last moment if something changes.

Just wish they’d “evolve” and let you tag a deer with the app.

You will get one along with your citation from the lovely GW after he writes you a ticket for some BS they changed in it.

I have no clue as to why Tx is always lagging behind in technology and modern ways. It’s like the states ran by retards or something down in Austin hammer

I have it from a very reliable source that printed Outdoor Annuals will be available this year, with shipments going out around July 23rd if not sooner. In fact, shipments to the smaller retailers, LEOs and SPs have already shipped. You should be able to find them at most places when you go to buy your new license.

Kudos to all the advertisers who make the printed version of the Annual available.

That’s great news if it happens. I thought new licenses didn’t go on sale til August 15.

I suspect the TPWD is simply trying to get ahead of the curve so that license retailers have what they need before August 15th arrives.

That will probably be here sooner than we think.

I enjoy looking through the paperback edition as I'm on the computer 10hrs a day just for work.

Yes, a hard copy of the outdoor annual is a good thing to keep in the glove compartment of the vehicle...comes in very handy!
