I'm from that part of the country, Lots of bears in upper east Tennessee.
Not to change subjects but just yesterday I strapped on my pack with 55lbs in it. I hiked 4.5 miles on my property and at the end of my workout (when I was a little tired) I deployed my bear spray for the first time. I've been wearing it to get use to it as I want it on the front hip belt area. Careful to spray with the wind I deployed it a few times. Pretty impressed with it. Some actually got in my mouth and nose and I'm talking about a very small amount....just remnants in the air. It about gagged me! My eyes even blurred up some. I could't imagine getting a full hit with some of it.
I feel better about heading into Grizz country this sept.

People create their own problems, sometimes peanut butter helps.

Don’t forget the bells and whistles so authorities can identify the guilty bear if things go wrong.
