I am going in June to RSA in the Limpopo and Freestate areas. Going after Sable, Roan, Hippo, bushpig, bushbuck, Red Duiker and a few others that I come across. Kudu is always on the list if the right one shows up!!!!

It's great that you guys are visiting other countries, South Africa in particular, to hunt. Safe travels and happy hunting.

We have a trip to RSA scheduled for June. ~On the fence now over covid. Any thoughts?

I'd love to go back to Namibia, but it's going to be another air travel nightmare for 2021 IMO. Flights are constantly being canceled, altered, COVID stuff changes as often as the wind. Not worth the hassle for me anyway.

Congrats to all that are able to go again this year. There are some really amazing deals out there right now. My friends in Namibia are offering crazy low prices on PG packages, to try to get some income back and to keep their animals in check. With the rains they have had this year, everything will be flourishing too!!

In My OPINION, if you have received your 2nd vaccine 6 weeks prior to going I would go without hesitation, but still practicing common sense.

If unvaccinated:
- and you are morbidly obese, over 60 yo, have respiratory issues, diabetes, poorly controlled high blood pressure I would be very very concerned about international travel.
- if you don’t meet any of the above criteria I would still go even without the vaccine, but know you are still at risk.

Your largest exposure risk will be during air travel and at the airports. Once you get to your destination you will be isolated and in remote parts of the country. The difference there will be, potentially, one being more prone to letting their guard down.

Definitely need to make sure you can get a PCR test to get back on that flight home. And definitely need contingency plans if that test is positive and you have to stay for 14 more days.

This isn’t medical advice, simply my opinion.

Some predictions are that SA will experience a 3rd Covid wave around May. If those predictions turn out to be accurate then there is the possibility of travel restrictions being imposed by the SA Government or by foregn governments

Work through the various scenarios with the Outfitter and agree what must happen if the hunt cannot take place as scheduled, due to Covid.

That's a nice list. I'll go back for sable, roan and nyala as soon as I can swing the scheduling.

We too plan to safari in June west of Kruger, haven't made final decision and are consulting with my son-in-laws father, a doctor near Cape Town. He hasn't had much time off with his partners getting Covid or recovering. We already delayed from last year and are trying to pull the trigger!

Heads up: The 3rd wave is looming in SA with infection rates up over the last few days. There are now confirmed cases of people infected with the Indian variant and reports of another variant detected here as well. https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/n...ives-in-sa-as-third-wave-starts-to-stir/

If you have booked to hunt in SA in late May, June and July, you need to keep an eye on this and be in regular comms with your outfitter.

Also, if you have booked to shoot a captive-bred lion, you should be aware of the statement released by SA's Minister of Forestry and Fisheries and Environmental Affairs on 2 May 2021 and speak to your outfitter about it https://www.environment.gov.za/spee...bO-p1tXWof4ZLCCFenf5cq2ajD0JXN3rA1XCgdqg
