Montana Muley License

Just got an email saying my number was up in Montana . Second year in a row I have been able to get a combo deer license via the alternate list! Great way to end the day.

Where I have been for the last several days we have seen a ton of muley doe but only one buck. Not sure where all the buck are right now, but they aren’t here.

Great time now to hunt Montana Mulies, this week or next they will be getting stupid, and want to be where the does are.

Headed up next week. Rancher says the rut hasn't kicked in yet, Lewistown area. I am excited.

Some good deer around that area. One trip up I watched 2 probably 160 class bucks fighting at the end of the first week in November. Watched them going at it for about 20 minutes. That was in the Dry Range west of Lewistown. Last time I was up that way was 2004 and still miss hunting the Big Sky Country

Forgot to add, for anyone on the Montana alternate list you can call the Montana Fish & Wildlife office and a recorded message tells you what number they are up to on the alternate list. I didn't know that and had just about given up on getting one.

IME bank on Nov.13th...give or take 48 hours...the rut will be on.

I plan on being there the 16. Quite a snowstorm there today.
