What thickness of 2 inch tubing would be best to use when building a deer hoist for a receiver on a pickup?

I’ve built a bunch over the years and 11g is what I preferred but it’s heavier so most people liked the 14g for the weight savings.

I used 3/16 wall 2x2 because that’s what I had laying around. It’s drastic overkill for deer, and prob even elk.

Thanks for the info. I decided on 11 gauge. Will show picks when it is finished IF I can figure out how to post a pic.

Hell, if you were closer, I have one I would give you. Jut collecting dust in the garage. Built with 11g

If I was a little closer, I'd be on my way to your place. Daniel

They’re pretty affordable, just got my bro-in-law one from cabelas that was made by HME I think.

I also have the HME. Daniel - I got mine about 3 years ago. At my age, with what’s left of my back. It’s the best $125 I ever spent. Ron
