I have a Remington 244 automatic that was my Dad s I know it’s a 6 mm but will the 6mm ammo be to hot to shoot out of this old rifle anybody knows

244 and 6mm Remington use the same operating pressure. Remington renamed it when they changed the twist rate and chamber throat from 1:12 to 1:9 in 1963. I would stay within the original bullet weights or 90gr and below for bullets in the 244.

I have my dad's 742 6mm. Keep it super clean to operate well. There are/were a total of 5, 6mm guns at one time in the family.

Another Remington marketing failure. Ballistically, it was a superior cartridge to the .243.
