Tactical Hunter - 05/30/20 02:50 AM

Did a drive by and on some random hunting show and heard the term “tactical hunter”. Anyone have the definition of what a tactical hunter is?

No, but he drives a Raptor and a baby GTR. He TAF, too.

He calls his hunting partners "Bro".

Well, there is also a gun store with that name...
https://www.tacticalhunterguns.com/

Wilson Combat sells a gun by that name...
https://www.wilsoncombat.com/tactical-hunter/

Savage sells a gun with that name...
https://www.cabelas.com/product/CENTERFIRE-BOLT-RIFLE-TACTICAL-HUNTER/2947831.uts

However, it is basically just a hunter with a plan or procedure to accomplish a given goal...to use tactics. So basically, for the vast majority of us or the vast majority of the time, "tactical hunter" is redundant because as hunters, we usually have plans for how we are going to accomplish our hunting goals, the exceptions being surprise encounters with critters when we are engaged in other activities.

Probably wears a long scarf wrapped around his neck. I wonder if Dr Birx is a Tactical doctor?

I have the Wilson Combat Tactical Hunter, and a Tikka Compact Tactical Rifle, but I don't call my hunting partners Bro. I've also killed a lot of stuff with my Tactical Rifles, but more with bolt actions. I don't care if my camo doesn't match. We had a group of guys come by our lease once to look at some campers we had for sale. They were tactical hunters, no doubt. Beards, sunglasses, military boots, they all agreed ahead of time to not smile and be very serious. When they left one of my buddies that was a sniper in the Marines said they were text book Tactifools.

I would like to own a Wilson Combat Tactical Hunter .308 to replace my Diamondback. Probably would not kill one more or less hogs with it a year, but I would have the bragging rights with my hunting buddies.

I have it in 6.5 Creedmoor. Shoots 1/2" easily, great trigger, 129 GR.SST is a hammer on hogs.

Yeah I have a Diamondback 6.5 creedmoor with a FLIR 536 Thermal. I can't shoot 1/2" groups but 2 " groups 100 yds is close enuf for me. My .308 is my deer and daylight hog gun. It is a Kimber Hunter, really light I wish I had a really lightweight .308 AR 10 for my thermal night hog gun I like the 6.5 but .308 hammers big hogs at 300 yds i like big bullets

what that WC weigh?

It's heavy. I knew it would be but for my intentions I didn't mind. It has a 20" barrel, bipod, Leupold VX6 3-18 x 50 mm. I have some set ups where I can shoot hogs out 400 yards so I put this together to be able to take those shots from a rest. I haven't weighed it but the Wilson Combat site has the weights listed on all their stuff. You're in Wise County? Shoot me a pm if you're interested in getting one, you have a local source that is great to work with.

Dont forget a big ole bumper with a winch on it, roof rack, and molle panels with a bunch of crap hanging off of them.

Why do they do that? Do they just buy the wrong offset wheels or do they do it on purpose?

Re: Tactical Hunter - 06/02/20 03:10 PM

Mine are about an inch outside my wheel wells and I hate it. My fault bought the wrong offset and they are American Forces so can't afford to buy another set.

Lots of Raptor hate in here.....I might have to trade. And yes....when you take the plush-riding suspension of a stock Raptor and subsequently screw it up with a lift/level/offset tires, makes no sense. I cringe when I see that. And for me....no stupid decals either.

I’m on my 2nd and am about as far from “tacticool” as one can get.
