Free Range TX Exotics (Part 1) - 02/19/20 02:44 AM
I have a point to this that we shall call “off season entertainment” and l will follow up with a separate thread....But what would you say are the 3 most commonly seen and harvested free range big game exotics found in TX?...Going to guess Axis, Aoudad, and Sika. Interested to hear what others think.
PS - Excluding Hogs and Nilgai. Also for those that may already be thinking this is stupid, part 2 is not just going to be an official answer off Google....It’s going to be much cooler than that!

I would say Corsicans and Texas Dall and a bunch of other worthless sheep.

The only free range exotics that we have in Navarro are pigs. I understand why you are excluding the pigs, but why exclude Nilgi?

Blackbuck are not exactly free range. They may have got out of a place but as soon as they get to a fence they can't find a hole in they are confined. A HF to a blackbuck is a 4' sheep and goat wire fence.

Thanks everyone for the responses! Part 1 has now been completed. I will be going with Axis, Aoudad, and Black Buck. Part 2 to be posted up shortly
Don K - While not exact science, Part 2 of this post will test this belief to some degree
