300 WM Turkey - 11/03/19 10:17 PM

Shot a turkey with a 300 WM yesterday.

100% missed all the meat. Perfect shot.... some how. Grateful for the harvest.

Funny thing. Only shot one in my life. Jake. It started flopping around on the ground and a big Tom ran out and started flogging it.

I shot a moving turkey from about 90 yards with a 300 WM and 190 SMK going 3050 fps. It grenaded the bird and all that was left was feathers and toes. It was moving and I hit more forward than I wanted and was like a cartoon.

Most high-velocity centerfire rifles will do the same thing. I have blown up a few with a .243. A neck or head shot, or low in the butt, works well if you can do it. I have gone to a .22 mag for turkeys, even during Spring turkey season.
