Darned cold out there

Darned cold out there - 10/12/19 11:38 AM

Got off to a late start this archery season as my wife ended up with mild congestive heart failure from a simple dye injection procedure the week before season opener . She is doing fine now. However it's so cold right now I've suggested she sit in for a day or so. Was 93 degrees Weds when we arrived at the cabin and it's 27 degrees at 6:30 am this morning.

Did not see a lot of action yesterday I'm guessing there are acorns competing with my feeders or just great natural forbs from the wonderful rains we have received here 4 " in the last month and 29 " since January.

Cameras show some fine racks and fawn crop way up. Hope you all have a great season.

Finally feeling like deer season.
We are short on rain, but not on acorns

Not out hunting, but it was 27.9 here this morning, still 35 now. And yes, our oaks are loaded with acorns, live oaks are weighted down. I suspect the good Spring rains as most of my various types of oaks are all loaded. Most of the water around here has also dried up, so I suspect they will get good moisture from all those acorns until we get some standing water back.
