Nice couple of weeks.

I've been after an elk for several years now with no success. This year I was invited to hunt mule deer at a friends ranch in Montana about 2 hours north of Billings. I applied for an elk tag in unit 411, successful draw rate about 2%, along with my deer application. Got both tags! I located an outfitter to hunt elk with also.

Spent 3 1/2 days looking at deer and wonderful country. I took a mulie the last afternoon.



Drove about 30 minutes to reach the ranch I was elk hunting on. The next morning we rolled out about 7:30 and by 10:00 my first elk was down on a 250 yard shot as he came out of a canyon.


Came home to Stephenville and a week later got a pretty good whitetail off our ranch in western Erath county.

Congrats! Not many people have the "luck" of killing three species with that nice of sets of antlers in a single year much less a week. You will remember the 2018 hunting season for a long time.

Man what a heck of a week!! All 3 are beauties!! You will never forget this season! It was like that for me in 2014. I shot my first elk and mule deer then went on a Whitetail hunt in TX and shot 2 nice Blacktails in Ca! I will never forget!!
