Sufficient rain in time to save our quail and deer - 05/20/18 01:20 PM
Appears last night we received over 2 inches of rain at my place NE of Dickens. As we had less then 3 inches from November through April I had serious concerns for the quail and fawn crop. Normal rain fall ytd is 6.8 inches and we are currently at 6.3. We received over 3 inches in the last 3 weeks. I planted 2 acres of milo and beans at the end of April and was appealing to the good Lord for some support and he apparently heard my prayers.
My fawns should be dropping in a week or 2 so it's a timely gift.
I have been using an app called Field View which reports rain fall on specific acreage and it seems to be very accurate. It actually provides a satilite picture of your property daily for reference once you set it up. Something for you guys to consider when most results from other sources may be from stations miles from your property.
I hope we continue to receive normal rain fall as it will be nice to finally get a nice support food supply.
