Just curious about the antler restrictions on the wma hunts.
When I go thru orientation they scare me so much that I pass on really good bucks.
I'm curious. Do they really call the game warden and write you a ticket on the spot. And charge a fee for the value of the animal you shoot.?
Has anyone seen it in person?
I personally have seen deer under the 14 inch eartip rule shot and nothing happened.
Also have you passed up good bucks because you feel they might be under the limit?
Yes I approve of not shooting young deer. And they have to use some method to age the deer that beginners can follow. I'm just curious. Thanks

I've never hunted a WMA area. Are you referring to the 13" rule?

If you shoot an illeagal buck in an AR county during a WMA drawn hunt of course those in charge call the GW. Then it is up to the GW to determine what happens next.

There is no such thing as "14" ear tip rule" in AR regulations.

Im sorry. You are correct. It is 13 inches.Outside ears of deer in alert position. I was confused because wma's can use their own restrictions. Chap is 14 daughtery 14 and kerr 15. Thanks

My BIL and I were on a WMA hunt a few years ago. He shot a buck that didn't meet AR. we took it in and were told to meet the GW in the morning. It was a long night for BIL. He met with the GW and got a warning even though he should have gotten a ticket. The guy over the WMA wasn't happy I heard.
