To classify a deer lease as very good what would you consider to be realistic number of deer per acre on a 1000 acre ranch?

At or under carrying capacity. If you have light densities and are under CC you have a dream set up.

It would be acres per deer or deer per section.
For some it is more about antler size than quantity of deer.

I like to have deer at feeders with a mix of Doe's, young bucks (1-2), mid age bucks (3-4)and maybe a stud(5+) from time to time. Turkey and dove to top it off.

Depending on CC 7 to 15 acres per deer. You would want a good mix of age class.

It depends on habitat quality, but slightly below carrying capacity.
