What size/style feeders do you guys prefer?

We got our drawings and designs dialed in finally. We started our first production run on feeders and I was wondering what size and style you guys prefer.
450/850/1200#?
Stand and fill size or tower style?
Also, do you prefer a varmint cage or using the eliminator style spinner?

I prefer the all seasons 1k lb Hercules with the eliminator plate

I prefer stand and fill. I do not like coon cages. They knock down the corn to the ground and pile it up under and around the feeder. I don't use eliminator plates because they will fail from weather exposure and coons can still get their hands on them.

I prefer a design that addresses these weak links. The other weakness is exposing the motor to the weather elements. That's why I own Alamo Wildlife feeders. They throw out a perfect circle of feed evenly dispersed every time so multiple animals can feed and spread out in the entire feed pen. Nothing is exposed to the elements and the varmits.

I like the cages that Texas Hunter Product makes for their feeders, the corn doesn't have a problem piling up under the feeder.

Stand and fill. Put the wiring on the inside from the solar panel. 600 lb is an ideal size for me. Varmint cage, the deer don't care if it is under the feeder or 20 ft from it.

10 -12 big live oaks, best feeder known to man.

I like crank up feeders with a good tripod the hogs and livestock don't bother them.

I did build one on a stand with a ladder and never will again, they will be stand and fill or crank up from here on out.

I would "prefer" the winch up type because I like the large broadcast area they provide for the corn, so higher is better for me. I also like the fact that they are easier to fill with no climbing or ladders. The drawback is that you wind up paying as much for the dang tripod set as you do for the actual feeder.

I use a coon cage on a 55 gallon drum. Feeders are Magnum products. Had em for 10 years with very little problem. Need a ladder and strong backs to climb ladder and fill (That's what grandsons are for). I install PVC pipe on legs to give the coons a climbing problem. Stand and fill, 600#, eliminator plate

tower style because I get nervous of people shooting my feeder. 1200+ as I would rather only fill it up a few times a year

450 as I don't need that much corn at a time. I still use tower style just because of price compared to stand and fill.

I'm getting old and tired of cranking feeders up on winches. I've started building my own stand and fill. Use the eliminator plate and mount an ammo box up on the side to house the battery and timer. Mount the solar panel direct to top of ammo box, no wires for the coons to pull. We don't have a problem with pigs...yet.
On your stand and fill, one thing I did with mine was add 1 ft. pieces of 2" steel pipe on opposing corners, use these to drive t-posts through to keep it in place.

Stand and fill, only way to go. Easy to move empty or full, and easy to fill. If the Hogs create a mud hole around it, put a strap around it and drag it a few feet. We made our own cradles and put our old tripod feeders on them.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have looked at the Alamo feeders and they have a great looking design for the spinner set up (obviously, we won’t be copying that) but it does have my wheels turning a bit. I think we’re going to offer ours with the option to purchase a “bare model” where you can add your own electronics and also offer them with our electronic set up.

That’s awesome. A combination set up would be really cool.

I almost lost my life do to a full tripod feeder falling on top of me. I'll never climb another ladder to fill a feeder.

I'm running 600lb Allseason stand and fill and 400lb Ramball36 stand and fill feeders. Both have heavy gage varmint cages along with eliminator spinner plates. I'm having absolutely no problems with either feeder.
When I get my next feeder it will probably get one that functions like Alamo feeders.

I think Sweeney is the best feeder that I've ever had. Dependable, never have to jack with it.
