How many acres do you guys hunt?

I went on a little scouting trip last weekend and was wondering about this. Our lease has 6 members and is 17,341 acres total. We have 18 feeders/stands set up. I was scouting from some of the bluffs all weekend and saw some nice bucks that we’ve never seen on camera, so we started talking about changing some of our sets.

The lease I was on before was right at 800 in the piney woods and we did fine with two guys and 5 sets

Anyway, how many acres do y’all hunt?

1,100 in Montague. 6 hunters but only 4 of us deer hunt. Have 8 feeders. I normally hunt one more than most but try to hit the rest depending on wind. I will say we hardly see big deer at the feeders. Almost all bucks are not shot at a feeder and we only take 1 to 3 a year. Not seeing anything mature on camera at all. Lots of young little bucks and plenty of does.

1,800 acres, 13 hunters, prob 5 bucks killed a year.

842 acres, 6 feeders and blinds.
Just me most of the time, but our 2 son in laws hunt a couple of times a year. I've one more year before I can start taking our 2 grandsons. They do like hanging out and helping with the sausage in the smoke house.

About 300 normally 3 hunters being my dad grandpa and I.

10,000 acres 10 hunters

10,000 acres high fence (in other words -"a pen" ). No protein, just 12 sets with seasonal corn. 10 hunter spots.

A dozen feeders is enough work for, basically, 4 men that live 5 hours away.

I would say 4 of us hunt hard and other 4 come a couple times per season.

We don't hunt by we all get to fill our tags or we all get a buck ets. We do surveys and pick what we want taken, means a lot of times you may go a year or 3 without shooting a good buck.

1045 and 3 Deer hunters total.

150 acres and two of us hunt it.

300 acres. If you could flatten it out it would be 600. 2 hunters. 3k acres around us that gets little to no hunting pressure.

460 acres. I'm the only one that hunts it a lot. My son, brother, and nephews occasionally hunt it.

900 low fence, 1,800 high fence. Two of us and our guests hunt it. 18 stands and corn feeders between 600 and 1,000 lbs each. Plus 8, 1 ton protein feeders on the 1,800 acres.

Dad and I hunt my FIL's ~1000 acres and theres 10 hunters (including us) and 19 stands total. We're stacked in there. Dad and I have 3 stands (plus a spot to park the mule in heavy cover/deep weeds) and 5 feeders combined.

1,000 acres of pine woods, 10 hunters (no guests), 20 food plots of 1/4 to 1/2 acre each.

We hunt on 2000 acres with 7 guys, bow only.

I do a lot of hunting and shoot more than anybody I know. 34,000 acre west texas ranch, directly across the street another 15,000 acres. 30,000 acres north of dallas consists of many owners/farmers, then south Dallas with approx another 50,000 acres again combined with several owners/farmers. Its a lot to keep track of but it is definitely a lot of fun. Shot and recovered 16 hogs just last night alone.

I hunt on 161,508 acres. I often see people hunting on my place without my permission but I just let them do their thing since my place is so big.

5 acres in the middle of a 40 acre trap but access to 2000 acres that we don't hunt.

About 5,000 acres with my own 2 stands plus about 30 other guys... I wish I had a place with a lot lower hunter to acreage ratio like some of you guys have.

I manage 12,500. acres and own 270acres that joins Ranch Headquarters that is a little over 1500 and that's mine to hunt around the headquarters.

60 acres in East Texas for myself and my son. He does the shooting, i just like scout and sit in the stand with him.

31 feeders! You must haul an 18 wheeler of corn to keep all those full

Well it does take some trips to get them all full to start the season but then we just top them off when we are out there riding around and it is not too big of a deal. Plus we have an auger to help when they are empty.

230 acres next to 1000+ of low fence on 3 sides. Just one hunter unless the guy who owns half of it comes 4 hours from Houston to hunt over the holidays(he just wants me to kill pigs on his 130 acres). The other 100 acres I can hunt anything. Growing some nice bucks in the area and not pressuring the deer much, so the bucks are becoming frequent visitors.

Regardless of what many think it doesn't take 2-3 thousand acres to kill a big deer just your neighbors thoughts on management

It really doesn't. I'm on a lease right by the house that is 140 acres that has 170" deer on it

Well it's a boring TNFB game. A quick tally so far, approximately 724,086 acres hunted. That is significantly more than half the state of Delaware. Hale fire no wonder I can't find a measly 300 acre lease.

We hunt 4800 acres, 6 hunters. We have 12 sets setup and still don't cover it all

I ran some averages from the numbers presented less those with reference to public lands.

If a reference was made to the number of blinds/feeders, call it a "set", I averaged those. I did not include responses in this average that did not reference a "set".

The most productive two places I've deer hunted were 4 and 15 acres. I now own 66 acres to hunt on.

243 acres bought and paid for. Just me and my brother for now. My son is in the Army, he can hunt when he's home. My three nephews will hunt it when they are of age, I am anxiously waiting. My brother has "age requirements". His kids, not mine so I can't have an opinion, but its killing me to get them out. At least two of them, one is a little young still.

My own piece of heaven with 160 acres with 4 blinds and feeders. mainly my wife and I but have a son in law and 4 grand sons who are welcome anytime but only make it a couple times a year.

Well, I used hunt 140 acres. Then I learned that I could not hunt within 100 yards of the fence line lest my neighbors be all butthurt. That now leaves me just 69 acres to hunt.

How many acres per mile of road?

Same location since late 80's was 160 acre, then went down to 80, next year 40, the Honey Hole is drying up.

375 pretty much by my self. 4 set ups plus 2 on the wheat fields.

Somewhere I read that Texas has about 5 million acres that are highways, county roads and farm to market roads. That makes about 5 million acres available for road hunters.

I knew a guy that used to say his deer lease isn't very wide, but it's REALLLLLLLY long.

65,000 acres. But it is public land. Good news is that my lease payment is only $45 for the WMA permit.

It depends on what I am hunting. I lease 6,000 acres for deer in the Trans-Pecos but if I am lion or predator hunting it may be the Navajo Nation which is 17.5 million acres. I will admit that I am spoiled as I am not much on seeing other hunters. I know some of the best hunting may be around urban areas but it just does not feel like hunting to me.

1,375 divided into 6 sections and 5 hunters. I lease two sections so my family can hog hunt and shoot does. Everyone has their own sections, and you're only allowed to hunt other sections with permission.

Oklahoma - About 1000 acres, 5 hunters

Texas - 17 acres, 1 hunter

38 acres (I own) all thick wooded except two small <1/4 acre areas cleared. Just my oldest son and me now. When youngest son did not have Marines or college obligations he went too.
