Outdoor shows-another option - 07/13/17 04:58 PM
There is another option that blows away the infomercial type hunting shows on the network. The cinematography and story telling is second to none. These artists are both professional and amateur. Some of the content is free on YouTube and Vimeo. We all love a good millennial poke, but some have a self promotion perspective that puts hunting in a very positive light, and captures the true highlights of hunting.
Just a sample, but there is a ton more.

I have just about quit watching hunting shows , there all getting to be the same . 30 min show consist of wanna be funny guys ,driving on the hiway, there face in the camera while in the tree instead of on the animal and woods ,and everyone of them trying to come up with there own trademark air punch and killdance . just plain sickening !!!! sorry for the rant !!

I got tired of them 10 years ago and had family producing one even, they lost what they had in the old Fred Bear and a few other great classic shows, iirc Curt Gowdy (sp) even narrated a few?

Re: Outdoor shows-another option - 06/03/18 11:17 PM
Aside from Steve Rinella and Jim Shockey I would be absolutely ok with all other hunting shows going away. It’s having a negative impact on the sport IMO and people are just into it for self promotion.
As mentioned before, way too many wanna be comedians, way too much windshield commentators, way too much overselling of the hunt.
I can’t stomach it anymore. I used to love the old TTHA shows with Jerry Johnston and a few others but now most are just terrible.

YouTube, I cut cable. The video I just posted is a DIY goat hunt in BC. They did a great job. It’s actually almost too good for YouTube

Sorting through is annoying but once you find some good ones it’s easy to subscribe and get regular content with out having to search.

Re: Outdoor shows-another option - 06/04/18 03:51 AM
YouTube has a bunch of good ones. Some are a little weak, but by and large even those are much better than the hunting shows on TV. Some are absolutely top notch.
Heck just doing without the product junk and yuk-monkey stuff already puts 90% of them ahead of the game.
Saw Michael Waddell go on a rant/lecture about other hunting shows becoming all about products, killing stuff just to make show, ”fakey” stuff, etc. Lol I was like “Say what???” to the TV. He’s a nice enough guy and better than many, but he made his name knocking down whitetails while acting a fool for the camera, hawking product, and was basically one of the pioneers of the commercialization of hunting. Give me a break, dude....
That particular show was about his family and their annual hunt on their place in Georgia. That was his platform for the lecture, “hunting for all the right reasons”, blah blah........
Then why are we all seeing your private family memories being made on national TV while you hawk a bunch of product?

The first shows (Wensels, Monster Bucks, Primos) were novel and cool back then. Nowhere else could you see such videos with such regularity. I looked forward to the Monster Bucks videos every year. So I am not without fault.
Sadly, over time, it has slowly turned into what we see today.
