I have heard about those. I don't have one personally but I have heard nothing but great things about them

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/02/16 02:30 PM

Several posts on here about them. Don't know anything about the coolers but I have seen several test with the cups and Yeti wins all of them. I would buy one of the coolers though for the price if I didn't have to wait 6 months to get it.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/02/16 03:30 PM

Walmart now has a couple similar to Yeti's as well. One is the Ozark Trail brand, while the other is Mossy Oak.

My coworker has the Ozark Trail 20oz cup and we did a comparison side by side with my Yeti 20oz. They were pretty much identical with ice retention in our very non-professional test. We basically put the same amount of ice cubes and water in each, then set them in an office all day and didn't touch them. By the end of the day they had pretty much the same amount of ice as one another.

I saw the Mossy Oak version at walmart the other day, and the walls of the cup felt a lot thinner than the yeti, so I passed on it.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/02/16 04:14 PM

My co-worker bought one of the Ozark Trail's. Same ice retention as the Yeti for a fraction of the cost. As much as I despise WM may stop by there and pick one up.

I haven't seen any bumper stickers or t-shirts for them yet. That's the real test.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/02/16 05:06 PM

Janie, it's been hard to find the Ozark Trails around here. I asked a few workers at WM and they said they are gone as fast as they get put on the shelves.

If WM sells it, just order online and have it shipped to you or the store.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/02/16 05:52 PM

I have the RTIC. Can't speak for how it'll hold up long term, but it's every bit as heavy duty as a YETI from what I can tell and it holds ice forever. Took me close to 5 months to get though.

I've got the 65 QT Model. Very please with the quality and performance. And it's made in the USA. But back order wait time is several months.

I know that they are one of the companies that Yeti is sueing for trade dress violation. Most likely they will win. The suit is over the tumblers but it extends to the coolers for a few companies and RTIC is one of the main ones.
I also now that Walmart, Academy and couple other large retailers are named in the suit.

There website say's they're made in China.

"Where are your coolers made?

Like other major competitors, the RTIC coolers are made in China in order to provide the best quality at the lowest price to you, the consumer. Just like many of the outdoor products you will buy at your favorite sporting goods store; overseas manufacturing is a cost effective way for retailers to provide an affordable product to its customers.""

Looks like they are made all over the place. Depending on model and request, I guess it can be made in the USA.

"Our Tundra coolers are manufactured in the USA at facilities located in Iowa and Wisconsin as well as at a facility located in the Philippines. Our Hopper coolers are manufactured in China. Want a YETI made in the USA? Call us at (512) 394-9384 and we’ll make it happen.""

Interesting I'll be curious to see how that plays out. I agree, they look almost identical.

I will never use a link with "alibaba" in it, did once and it took an hr and a virus download remover to get their crap off my machine. They are full of security issues. What their site put on my laptop was a constant spam spyware takeover.

Just one article

Walmart has a cheaper brand too. Maybe the Ozark Trail brand Janie mentioned earlier.
Although I have a Yeti 32 oz. tumbler I really like that I got for Christmas from my son,
I would be willing to buy one and try it out.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/06/16 02:40 AM

RTIC has already had their legs cut out from under them. Walmart cornered the market on cheap. I would be surprised if RTIC is still in business by the end of the year.

All the lawsuits going on about should get interesting.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/06/16 03:51 AM

Yep, we are all yuppies, none of us hunt or fish in a manner that requires a cooler that won't fall apart, and that will keep ice for over a week, consistently. Not to mention when you use a cooler other than to store beer, it might need to stand up to more than being loaded in and out of a truck...Carry on however, us yuppies will enjoy our high dollar coolers in peace lol.

Give us a good look before you pull the trigger. We're based in DFW and all our coolers are American-made. We offer more features, the ability to customize and run about $80 cheaper than "Brand Y". See all the details at https://www.bisoncoolers.com/.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/06/16 09:25 PM

I know we gave our son a Bison soft-side cooler and he loves it. And it's way less than a brand Y soft side.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/06/16 09:42 PM

The Bison 150 quart price is better than anything comparable available on Walmart.com (just checked) At least on price, might be worth considering.

The thing about Bison coolers...that X on the front...must be my southern heritage, but I'm somehow drawn to it. Maybe it's a flag we're not supposed to fly anymore. bolt

Somebody find me a cooler for under $200 that will keep 3 days of food and a case of beer cold, without ice melting and ruining my food.

Just got back from a 3 day trip to the coast, I put 40 lbs of ice in my Bison the day I arrived and 3 days later when I got home there was still ice in the Bison and my fish was very cold as was my last beer! BISON IS MY CHOICE!

I paid $1200 dollars for my 4 quart yeti in 1994. I bought (1) 10lb bag of ice to fill it up and only used half. I just walked out and checked and the yeti still has that same bag of ice in it.

That's pretty good results there - 1 bag of ice in 22 years.

Re: Yeti knockoffs. Check it out - 05/16/16 05:48 PM

I have always wanted a Yeti cooler just haven't found myself wanting one bad enough to spend the money on one. I did buy the Yeti 32 rambler about a year ago and it goes everywhere with my. I love it! Now that there are so many options out there as far as coolers, I think I have my eye on the Pelican whenever I breakdown and buy one. From what I have seen, the performance is similar between the two but the two big selling points for me is a). they are made in America, and b). the 65 qt holds 65 qts of water where as the Yeti held quite a bit less....

As far as the Bison...I would be more than willing to test one out in exchange for a review haha!!!!!

Look at the Ozark Trail brand at Walmart, Yeti look a like and the Ozark Trail travel tumblers are the same quality as the Yeti tumblers, just a lot cheaper.
