Keeping hogs out of my food plot

Short of waiting to give them a case of lead poison, what suggestions can you offer to keep hogs from rooting my food plot until it gets established and the season opens?

They have always hit the same area of the plot throughout the year. Last year, I threw up a poor attempt at a scarecrow and wasn't sure it would help. But after not having a problem with them after planting last year, and having them return this year after NOT throwing up a scarecrow, I'm thinking it may have worked quite well.

I'm going to put up a better scarecrow with plenty of human scent and a couple of pie pans hanging from string to move in the breeze. As I did last year, I'll take it down as the season draws closer.

Short electric fence. Cheapest way to stop them for a while.
